a railway station in Belarus

The number of Belarusian postcards in this blog is a bit, um, lacking.. ooops. I thought I'd try to change that a big so here's a wonderful card I received from a tag on the Postcrossing forum earlier this year.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, this is the railway station in Luninets, a town and administrative centre for the Luninets district in Brest Province, Belarus. I could be wrong, though, so if anyone can read Belarusian, I would be really grateful if you could translate the text on the card for me ;)

Railway Station, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

I'm starting to get REALLY behind with this blog and have a massive pile of postcards I want to post here, so I thought I'd change my approach a bit, at least for a bit. That is, including a lot less text or descriptions of cards, instead mainly just posting pictures of postcards and stamps. Let's see how that'll go...

I thought I'd start with this official I received earlier this year from the Netherlands.

Minsk Railway Station Square, Belarus

Another official, this time from Belarus. If the proportion of officials I've received from Finland recently has been decreasing, then it could be said that the number of cards from Belarus is increasing. Or at least if feels like that; at the moment three out of the 43 officials I've received so far this year are from Belarus.

This card shows the Railway Station Square "Minsk Gate". These two tall buildings are located in front of the terminal. On the back of the card it reads "Building of 1953". I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I'm assuming these buildings could be from 1953?

The stamp actually fits the theme of the card - it shows the Railway Station in Brest! It's from a set of 2 definitives issued in 2002.

Hua Hin Railway Station, Thailand

My last card for today was sent to me by my grandma last year. She's actually in Thailand at the moment again, staying there for a while. She told me she needed to go somewhere warm and apparently Thailand is one of the only places where you get guaranteed sunshine. :D (That, and it's not overly expensive over there. I don't think grandma could afford the Caribbean...) So yeah, I might have another postcard coming from Thailand soon. :)

The Hua Hin Railway Station is one of the oldest railway stations in Thailand. Its most striking feature is the unique Royal Waiting Room in Thai architectural style. The Royal Waiting Room was built in the reign of King Rama VI in order to welcome the King and his entourage. The outstanding feature of the station is the pavilion constructed in in the reign of King Rama VI; it was originally named as "Plub Pla Sanamchan", and it was initially situated at Sanacham Palace in Nakorn Pathom Province. The Royal Waiting Room, the original building built in the same architectural style as Maruekkhathayawan Palace, stands adjacent to the station, and is a favourite spot for taking pictures for both Thai and foreign tourists. The smaller stamp is from a set of 6 "Greetings" stamps issued in 2010. The bigger stamp is from a miniature sheet of 12 stamps issued in 2008, with the subject Chatukham Rammathep.
